Saints Send Goodies to Soldiers in Iraq

"He's a long way from home, he's lonely and I know it would mean a lot to him if you guys could send a simple note thanking him for him for his service and letting him know how much you appreciate the sacrifices made by all of the troops."  That's how it all started about two months ago.  Andy Stavast sent out an email to the entire team asking people to send messages of support to LCPL Tyler Brown, a friend of his son who is currently deployed with the 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines, Bravo Company in Fallujah.
"I have a great idea", replied Susan Burns, "I'm going to send him some Girl Scout cookies.  If  anyone else would like to send some my daughter, Shauna, is selling the cookies.  Just tell me how many you want to send and I'll take care of the details."  Did they ever want to send them!  The team sent four cases of cookies all destined for Tyler and his unit.
In addition to the cookies, Susan also sent along a letter of encouragement and thanks as well as a team photo with a link to the team's website in case they get a chance to get on a computer.  "I just thought it would be nice if they could see who had sent the cookies" noted Gaspipe, "You know, sort of put a face on it for them."
"I really hope they check out our website", said Mike Eicher, himself a former Army man, "It would be really cool if they could send us some pictures from Iraq that we could add to our website."
"I’d like to say thanks again to the team for supporting Tyler and Girl Scouts" said Susan.  "It was a great teachable moment for me to talk to Shauna and the rest of the girls about what Tyler’s doing in Iraq, why the Saints wanted to make a contribution to him and why we wanted to send cookies to Tyler personally."  We couldn't have said it better ourselves, Susan.
Thank you Tyler, and thanks to everyone who has sacrificed so much for all of us here at home.  Semper Fi!

Below is the email that Tyler sent us as well as some photos.

Hello , everyone just got into Hawaii a few weeks ago. I've been really busy and I drew a blank as to whether I sent a Thank you for the cookies and also for the letters of encouragement. Unfortunately we didn't receive the cookies until we arrived back in Okinawa Japan. (As we went to Iraq we stopped in certain places to train so anywhere we had stuff we had to egress there on the way to the U.S) The cookies were still enjoyed by all especially the thin mints. The letters sent earlier were a great Morale booster. More than often Marines would exchange encouraging  mail with one another to bolster our spirits. Thank you so very much. Enclosed are a few pictures of me and the other Machine Gunners I fought alongside In Fallujah.
